Queen Elizabeth’s Bridesmaid Dress in Exhibit

This exquisite bridesmaid gown stands as the earliest extant example of couture associated with the future monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. Crafted from silver lamé and tulle, the dress was the creation of renowned designer Edward Molyneux in the year 1934. It was donned by the young Princess Elizabeth at the nuptials of her uncle, His Royal Highness Prince George, The Duke of Kent, held in the same year. This historical garment will be showcased among roughly 200 other artifacts in the forthcoming 2026 exhibition titled “Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style” at The King’s Gallery within Buckingham Palace.

The exhibition is set to commemorate the centenary of the late Queen’s birth and will represent the most extensive and thorough display of her sartorial legacy ever curated. It is scheduled to inaugurate in the Spring of 2026 and will continue until the Autumn of 2026. The sale of tickets is anticipated to commence in November 2025.
